Introduction to Wildlife Health at ZSL
For Higher Education students studying to become veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses
Veterinary students are invited to book our ‘Introduction to Wildlife Health at ZSL’ session. This exciting opportunity is designed for Higher Education students studying to become veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses who want to gain insight into what this looks like within a conservation organisation.
The first half of the session explores the range of wildlife health roles within the organisation - both inside and outside the zoos - including pathology, research and animal welfare. The second half of the session involves a behind the scenes visit to ZSL’s onsite veterinary hospital, including a Q&A session with a member of the veterinary team.
The main learning objectives of the session are:
- To understand the similarities and differences between veterinary practice in domestic, zoo and wild animals.
- To understand the variety of veterinary career pathways within conservation.
- To understand how veterinary work contributes to the conservation and welfare of wildlife.
- To understand how the veterinary sector is represented within ZSL and its importance in conservation work - both inside and outside the zoos.

Audience: 18+ Higher Education veterinary students
Location: Onsite at London Zoo
Timings: 11:30 - 1:30 Please arrive at the zoo at least 15 minutes before your session to accommodate bag-check and walking time.

Capacity: Up to 20 students
Price: £135 per group in addition to the standard education rates for zoo entry.

This is an enquiry form only - your booking is not confirmed until you have received confirmation directly from us.
