What to Expect
In this unforgettable Giraffe encounter, you’ll step into the world of our gentle giraffes and join our team as they bring you up close to these incredible animals. Learn all about their towering adaptations, discover their individual personalities, and even help with a recall training session using positive reinforcement.
From their graceful movements to their surprising quirks, you’ll see why giraffes are some of the Zoo’s most awe-inspiring residents.
Please note, that whilst we will create an opportunity for a hand feed, it is entirely the giraffes' choice as to whether or not they want to feed from participants and therefore cannot be guaranteed. This is entirely for the welfare and comfort of the animals.

- From £75 for a 20 minute encounter
- Participants must have general admission tickets purchased separately.
- 10% discount for Gold Members, Fellows, and Patrons. Please log in at the start of your purchase journey to receive your discount.
- Visitors with disabilities can bring an essential carer for support during the animal encounter. The carer can enter for free but won’t take part in the experience. To bring a carer, please add an ‘Essential Carer’ ticket during the booking process.
- Only one essential carer is allowed per disabled visitor.
Know Before You Book
- For participants with a disability or learning difficulty, please click on this link to complete an enquiry form for advice before purchasing any of our experiences.
- Those with disabilities can be accompanied by an essential carer to support them during their encounter. Essential carers can enter the encounter area free of charge but do not take part in the encounter. Should you require an essential carer please put this information in the participant information form at checkout.
- Children must be at least 8 years of age to take part.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old and must also purchase a Giraffe Encounter ticket. There must be no more than two children per adult.
- You must wear appropriate closed toe footwear to take part in the encounter.
- Pregnant or nursing mothers cannot participate.
