Join us live online, from your classroom or from home, and give your secondary school students the opportunity to meet a ZSL expert.
Our early career scientists have worked with animals from around the world and will share their experience working in conservation science. They can talk your class through the process of scientific investigation or how the decisions they've made (which subjects to study, what work experience is necessary) have helped to get them to this point.
These free interactive, online chats, are run during Biology Week (October) and British Science Week (March) each year.
Meet a scientist
A key component of these sessions is the opportunity for your students to ask their own questions and ask what is important to them (whether that be careers advice, questions about conservation or whether fieldwork is as glamorous as it looks on TV!)
Equipment you will need for this session
- The necessary permissions to access Zoom in your classroom or via remote learning with your class
- An internet connection
- Computer with microphone and speakers
- A webcam
- Interactive White Board (or another way to display the picture in a classroom setting)
Please ensure you read our Code of Conduct for online events before attending the event:
Code of Conduct at ZSL Online Events
Our next sessions will be available during British Science Week in March 2023. Once bookings are open you’ll find the link below.
Sessions are available for schools and also home educated families.
For further information please contact [email protected] if you have any queries.
Ready to Book?
Sessions are up to 30 minutes long and are bookable on 13th, 14th and 17th March 2023. Please select a date and time and complete the form available here. If there are no times showing then the event is sold out. Note that bookings will close on Sunday 5th March.
One session can accommodate up to 90 students across a maximum of three classrooms, or students may join from individual devices. A maximum of three sessions may be booked per school across the three days. (Please note any bookings exceeding this limit will be cancelled).
Each session will be run via Microsoft Teams into a classroom. No other platforms are available. If students are calling in individually (e.g. from home), it is the responsibility of the facilitating teacher at school to adjust the settings on Teams accordingly to ensure students' personal details are not shared.
Once your ticket has been booked, we will send you further information about the scientist your class will be meeting, so that your students can prepare their questions in advance.
