We need your help to celebrate World Giraffe Day and World Camel Day!
21 and 22 June at London Zoo is the place to be to celebrate the incredible world of giraffes and camelids - that's the family that includes camels and their relatives llamas and alpacas.
Who's who at the Zoo?
London Zoo is home to two reticulated giraffes - dynamic brother and sister duo Nuru and Wilfred. As giraffe populations face increasing pressures in the wild, we want to remind everyone what makes giraffes so remarkable. From their dark blue tongues to giant hearts, long necks, and beautiful long eyelashes, come and learn and experience everything giraffe!
Our Bactrian camels Genghis and Noemi are important ambassadors for their cousins in the wild. Fewer than 1,000 wild Bactrian camels remain in Mongolia and China, making them one of the most endangered mammals in the world. Learn about ZSL's conservation work in Mongolia whilst delighting in our adorably awkward alpacas and llamas.
Giant prizes to be won!
Discover the amazing adaptations and curious characteristics of some of the zoo's most recognisable residents and learn just what life is like as a giraffe or camel at our informative talks. Then join us for a question time session with one of our dedicated keepers. You'll get to understand what it takes to look after these beautiful beasts with an opportunity to ask your very own questions at the end. Make sure to attend for the chance to win some amazing prizes, including some adorable plush toys!
Best of all, by visiting us for Heights and Hooves weekend, you will be supporting ZSL's conservation work in over 80 countries around the world!
Under-3's and ZSL Members enter the Zoo for free.

Artefacts & Activity Table - Into Africa
How much do you know about giraffes and camelids already? Test your knowledge with our quizzes and colouring activities, and take a look at some of our amazing artefacts which we'll bring out just for this special event.
Reticulated giraffes (giraffa reticulata) are increasingly threatened by habitat loss, hunting and human/wildlife conflict. Scientists and conservationists from ZSL - the conservation charity behind London and Whipsnade Zoos – work with local communities in Africa to build stronger, sustainable relationships between people and wildlife.
