There's family fun at London Zoo this spring, including a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title attempt! Here's seven things to do at the Zoo with the kids.
1. Get ready for exciting events!
You're invited to our Big Birthday Bash, filled with fun, food, and nostalgia. Join us for a family-friendly street party-style celebration over the early May bank holiday weekend, running from 2-4 May 2026.
Plus, don't miss the biggest paint-by-numbers ever, this May half term (23-31 May). This is your chance to be part of smashing an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title!
2. Spot our animal youngsters
Our two gorilla toddlers are fascinating to watch, and look out for our Asian short-clawed otter pups too. As we head into spring, there'll be more new arrivals for you to meet so watch this space!
3. Hit the beach and visit our penguins
Our South American beach landscape is home to our colony of Humboldt penguins, and it's the largest penguin pool in England. Stop by at feeding time and watch the penguins dive for their food - you can catch all the underwater action from our special viewing areas, and they're a big hit with children of all ages.
4. Get the inside story at our daily animal talks
Why are Humboldt penguins black and white? How fast can a giraffe run? What makes Galápagos tortoises so special? Don't miss our daily talks to learn all about your favourite animals. Ask our experts your burning questions and catch up on the latest animal stories.
5. Imagine your future in ZooTown
Discover ZooTown, our indoor role play adventure for kids, open all year round*.
Children can unlock a world of possibilities as they play their way through the adventure, learn new skills, and get hands-on with a whole host of costumes, toys and interactives.
*ZooTown will be closed for cleaning and maintenance on selected dates. Gold members, Fellows and Patrons enter free into ZooTown, but you still need to book online in advance. Silver members and non-members pay £1 per child.
6. Go wild in our adventure playground
Our Animal Adventure playground includes slides and a climbing wall, and is the perfect place for children to explore, while you take a pitstop at our Peckish Parrot catering kiosk. Don’t forget, Gold members get 10% off in our shops and restaurants.
7. Take in the spring blooms
As you make your way round the Zoo, you’ll see a wide variety of wildlife-friendly plants, flowers and trees in our gardens, and they look and smell beautiful in the spring. Get inspiration for things to include in your own garden to help support wildlife, from bees and butterflies to hedgehogs and birds.
8. Wander into our walk-through habitats
Get closer to our animals in our walk-through areas of the Zoo. In Rainforest Life - London's only living rainforest - monkeys can jump around you, and if you look up, you might spot a sleepy sloth above your head. Other walk-throughs include the tropical Butterfly Paradise where butterflies fly freely around you, Blackburn Pavilion, Monkey Valley, and In with the Lemurs.
9. Book onto a 200th Anniversary tour
ZSL, the charity behind London Zoo, is celebrating 200 years this year! Join us for one of our anniversary tours as we showcase our fascinating history. Learn all about our people, animals and architecture with themed tours throughout the year. All tour tickets are free, but bookable in advance.

April showers?
We all know that spring doesn't necessarily mean blue skies and sunshine! But London Zoo is a great day out no matter what the weather, with plenty of warm, indoor animal habitats and sheltered spaces.
