The iconic West End musical has roared into London Zoo with a special exhibition in the heart of the Zoo - don't miss it!
Step inside the world of The Lion King and discover the showcase of masks, puppets and costumes, all free with Zoo entry, and available to explore during the day, as well as at Zoo Nights - our summer evening events.
For one night only, on Friday 3 July, Zoo Nights is getting a Pride makeover!
Wildlife meets the West End at London Zoo
After immersing yourself in the Disney magic, here's three of your favourite Pride Rock species to spot around the Zoo.
Lions
Land of the Lions is home to our cub Syanii and his mother Arya, and they're two of our most popular animals at the Zoo.
But did you know, unlike Simba and the pride in The Lion King, our lions aren’t African? They're Asiatic lions, found in just one single area in the wild, the Gir Forest in Gujarat, India.
Sadly, there’s no problem-free philosophy for these lions. They’re an endangered species, with only around 600-700 remaining. Our lions are hugely important additions to the international conservation breeding programme, and help us inspire millions of people to protect wildlife around the world.
Warthogs
Sensitive soul Pumbaa is everyone’s favourite warthog, until you get to know our trio.
At London Zoo we’re home to three common warthogs with iconic names, brothers Dylan, Hendrix and Presley.
Presley is very confident and is definitely the boss, despite not being the largest. Dylan, on the other hand, has a more reserved personality, while Hendrix is the big one with the floppiest mane and largest sideburns!
The brothers get on really well, but there can be some sibling rivalry over prized food items like walnuts.
Despite what Pumbaa might portray, warthogs are very intelligent, capable of learning commands for training. Our trio are all recall-trained to a whistle and will go to where the keepers have blown it from. They are currently being trained for voluntary hand injections for a yearly vaccination they receive to keep them fit and healthy.
Meerkats
At London Zoo, we have a family of meerkats, including two pups who were born to mum Pamela in February. Look out for them scurrying around in their Animal Adventure home - they're bold and curious explorers!
And just like Timon, our meerkats' favourite food is insects, and they eat a variety of crickets, locusts, cockroaches and calciworms.
Can you feel the love tonight?
